Hi, this is an update about how my consultation with my new ortho went. Well, it didn't go too well. He seemed very set on not supporting my surgery. His argument: He's done a lot of surgeries, and there are times people come out with more problems then they originally had. He recommended a sleep appliance specialist to help my tmj pain and fatigue throughout the day. I fought my case, but he would not change the way he felt. So, I'm giving the sleep specialist a shot because if he's seen people much happier after going to this doctor, I might as well right?
I really hope a sleep appliance improves my life. Hopefully I'll be able to ditch my antidepressant. :)
Hi Hayley,
ReplyDeleteDon't check my blogs often, but, just caught your post. Thank you for your comment on my painting blog.
When you can use your art impulse as therapy and outlet. It can do wonders as a mental diffuser. I wish you the best in your journey to correct your palate.
Hi Hayley,
ReplyDeleteHave you tried seeing another orthodontist? I agree with you as it looks like you upper teeth do not fit over your lower teeth. An orthodontist once described it to me as a lid fitting over top of something. Don't give up keep searching for someone who is on the same track as you.

Oh I have memories of the many diagnosis I was given prior to finally having jaw surgery. Different orthos and specialists will all tell you different things. I have a rethognathic upper jaw, little different than your case because the jaw is pushed back instead of being narrow, but I can't fit my tongue in the palate either and it sucks.
ReplyDeleteTake your time and check out as many specialists as possible. Good luck with everything
